When you are feeling overwhelmed, filled with doubt or negative self talk, try this grounding practice from Deirdre Murphy, LISCW:
Sit or stand in a relaxed position. Feel your feet anchored on the floor. Close your eyes and put your hand on your heart. Take 3 slow breaths in and out, while you feel the comfort of your hand on your heart. Set an intention to pause and take care of yourself for a moment. Repeat the following mantra:
May I be kind to myself.
May I give myself the compassion that I need right now.
May I be free from suffering.
May I be at peace.
Give yourself a moment to allow these words of compassion to sink in. Crack a smile and imagine someone you love whispering some encouragement you need to hear right now.
Take another deep breath and open your eyes. Shake your body a little to relax, let go and move on with your day, with kindness and gratitude.
