Starting January 23rd, RICBT and OneCBT will be transitioning from Valant, our current electronic health system (EHR), to a new and enhanced platform to better serve you – Athena.
This change means there will be a new patient portal and telehealth sessions will be through the new platform. Rest assured, our top priority is to minimize any inconvenience and provide uninterrupted care. At this time, we ask for your patience and understanding as there may be some temporary disruptions.
Here are three changes to be aware of moving forward:
Patient Portal Signup: You will be receiving an email with instructions on how to sign up for the Patient Portal in the coming weeks.
Telehealth sessions: We will use Athena’s Patient Portal for telehealth sessions (replacing Valant and Teams app).
Communication: Athena’s Patient Portal will be used for all communication between you and your clinician. Ensuring that all your personal and health information will remain confidential and secure through encryption.
If you have any immediate questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your therapist, or call the main number and speak to a staff member.
Please note: The quality of the communication depends upon the sophistication and reliability of the telehealth medium used based upon your internet connection, your provider’s internet connection, the program itself, or the program’s internet cloud-based system. It may help to be closer to your router and or find a spot where your phone gets better reception.
A few insurance comments that continue to be true:
Most insurance companies are no longer waiving copays and deductibles.
Some self-insured or out-of-state plans may no longer be covering telehealth. If you are not sure about your plan, please call the member services number on the back of your insurance card.
Please note that as the Public Health Emergency has now been lifted, you are once again required to be physically located (during session) in a state where your clinician is licensed. Please talk to your clinician about this. If you live in MA and your clinician is not licensed in MA, for example, it is your responsibility to drive to Rhode Island for your appointments.
** If your insurance changes at any point, please let us know immediately. Plan benefits can vary greatly. We will do our best to help you understand your benefits and your financial responsibility.
