Advanced DBT Group

Led by Sharon Younkin, LICSW

Sharon Younkin, LICSWDialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) has dramatically changed the lives of many individuals who have difficulty with managing emotion. As with many learning experiences, the first step of mastering DBT is completing the didactic program of lectures and homework covering the core skills of Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Emotion Regulation (see description of our 6-month DBT Group). RICBT is offering this Advanced DBT Group for men and women who have already had exposure to DBT and would like a forum to continue to learn and discuss how to apply the core skills and generalize effective behaviors to all areas of importance (work, family, social situations).

For three months, the goals of this biweekly group will focus on utilizing clinical tools (diary cards, chain analyses) to explore how group members are coping with stressful events and problem-solve how individuals can be even more skillful. In addition to intensive and supportive discussions, group members will engage in helpful assignments between sessions.
